Rhythmic Movement and Dramatic Symmetry Form New Samba Collection

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 24, 2009 --- Reminiscent of the pace and force of the Brazilian dance for which it is named, flirtatious lines in symmetrical form share intimate twists and then briskly slide away in rhythmic succession in Marge Carson’s new Samba Collection. Passionate and fluid, the movement in each carefully crafted piece energizes a room’s flow while integrating a distinct air of elegance.

Whether enjoying a feast with family and friends or simply an elegant candlelight dinner for two, engagement is a given with the sculpted Samba Dining Table. This shapely, exuberant offering gracefully interprets the dance throughout its fixed form. A solid wood base bows together and arches back, gathered by a wood strap adorned with a cast nickel hardware band detail. The contrasting rosewood veneered top is finished in ‘Kona Gold’ that gives a subtle gold pearlescent shimmer to the surface. It is further accented with ebony inlays creating a diamond pattern that radiates to the outer edges. Adding the option of a 26” extension leaf makes it easy to add to your guest list. The curvaceous table top gently convexes out at the center and slopes back to reconvene at the corners.

The detailing on the back of the Samba Oval Back Classic Side Chair and Arm Chair is sure to capture attention. A nickel grill pattern features glittering gold studded accents at each diamond crossing. Shown upholstered in ‘Barone Fleur,’ a pale taupe silk crowned with a black paisley pattern, the button-tufted back and nailhead trimmed seat rest in a frame of solid white teak stained in the translucent ‘Bombay’ finish allowing the wood’s natural characteristics to shine through deep ebony brown.

Ample storage for serving pieces and utensils can be found in the Samba Credenza’s single tray drawer and adjustable shelf behind each pair of doors. The ‘Black Galaxy’ marble inset is flush with the white teak frame that beautifully contrasts with the subtle metallic gold snakeskin material ‘Golden Cobra’ door faces. Rectangular polished nickel hardware and a simple single key accented with tassels act as a pull on each of the four panels.

These days, entertainment components should be experienced and not seen. Built-in infrared technology allows remote controls to operate electronics through the stunning Samba Entertainment Dresser without the user needing to expose anything aside from the rich texture and bravura of the intricate raised basketweave design. Shown in ‘Kona Gold’ with nickel hardware on the hidden interior drawers, a ‘Black Galaxy’ marble top completes this textural meeting of function and form.

Rugged and complex, composed of teak, the Samba Desk features an intricately carved alligator pattern of white teak that meanders onto the face of the pencil drawers while surrounding a smooth rosewood veneer writing surface. The desktop cants down as do the angled legs that are then connected by a decorative polished nickel metal stretcher accented with check rings.

Symmetrical simplicity shines in the curvilinear Samba End Table. The rosewood top, apron, and lower shelf, all shown finished in ‘Kona Gold,’ contrast against white teak legs finished in ‘Bombay.’ A single nickel drawer pull completes this impeccable ensemble. Beholding the same affinity for smooth, curved edges, there is no wrong place for the shapely Samba Door Chest.  Every surface of the oval shape chest is graced with the ‘Kona Gold’ finish. Bookmatched rosewood veneer is accented by the same rectangular polished nickel hardware as the Credenza.

The Samba Poster Bed performs the dramatic evening finale. Composed of white teak solids and rosewood veneer, bold edges woo one another as they arch from their foundation and then pull away before they can ever meet. Carved posts accented with the new ‘Burnished Silver’ metal leaf trim add majesty to the ‘Bombay’ finished presentation that features a button-tufted inset upholstered in ‘Fawn’ ivory leather framed by the highly contoured headboard. The shimmering taupe ‘Gossip Latte’ comforter is accented with ‘Barone Fleur,’ a paisley jacquard in a graphic taupe and black.

The undulating lines continue their dance in the Samba Nightstand. A tapered leg base plays host to the white teak ‘Bombay’ two-drawer structure topped with ‘Black Galaxy’ marble. Sculptural yet simple, square bar nickel hardware set at a 45° angle adds a functional contrast to the supple cabinet surface.

The Samba Collection is available in any of Marge Carson’s 50 finishes and can be customized in any of Marge Carson’s 500 plush fabrics or leathers.
