Marge Carson Upholstery Looks to Shape, Trim and Simpler Pillow Assortments

OCTOBER 2019, HIGH POINT, NC: Marge Carson is showcasing the sophisticated sculptured shaping of its upholstered sofas, sectionals and chairs this market. “One way we are focusing on the shaped silhouettes we’re known for is by using a simpler approach to pillowing,” said Laurie Reed, creative director. “We are reducing the amount of pillows used per frame, and going to simpler and less complex pillow arrangements,” said. “In addition to pillows, we’re looking to trims like buttons, tapes, cords and other dressmaker details to add excitement for the couture look Marge Carson is known for.” In fact, Marge Carson is adding 18 new upholstery trims this market.

While the new Marge Carson upholstery silhouettes retain their characteristic sculptural design, “the frames also have a classic style and scale that would make them fitting for many types and sizes of homes,” Reed said. New trim tapes include ombre effects sprinkled with rhinestones, pearl-encrusted tapes and diamond-studded rosettes and sequined tapes.

Complementing upholstery with the Maison Collection is in a rich palette ranging from soft plums and lavender to merlot and charcoal. “These colors work so well with Maison, especially with the tonal gray finish,” Reed said. In addition, understated patterns of Brain Coral and diamonds accent the new frames, and “heavy doses of sequins and beads are splashes of glamour throughout to add to the glitz Marge Carson is known for,” she said. Other fabrics include printed velvets of aubergine and merlot to add depth of dramatic rich color, and copper shades mixed with charcoal marry back to the rich finishes of Dark Bay and Pumice.
