Marge Carson Fabrics Sing The Blues

HIGH POINT, NC - In the high-fashion manner they've come to be known for, Marge Carson's spring lineup of fabrics is nothing short of amazing. A show-stopping selection of patterns, textures and colors is elegance epitomized.

According to Christine Rendino, who leads the design team, the entire showroom is infused with color - especially blue, in every imaginable shade. "It runs the gamut from navy to turquoise to pale cerulean blue," she says. "There's a room done in turquoise and chocolate brown with metallic accents, and one that features a slate blue menswear look. Another features crisp white with French blue in a traditional French country look and a particularly glamorous one done in an ocean blue; it has a bed upholstered in blue chenille with sequins woven right into it, the hologram-colored sequins reflecting light and giving it a mirrored effect."

Other recurring themes throughout the Marge Carson showroom include mixed metals - golds and silvers used together - as well as geo patterns and tonal animal prints. "We've paired a pale metallic gold matelass crocodile print with silver nailhead trim and, in our Silver Screen room, a gray fabric with chocolate brown embroidery and gold metallic accents takes the metallic trend in an entirely different direction," Rendino says. "A more contemporary take on the same trend features a chocolate brown linen in a geo pattern with polished silver nailhead trim."

Skylar Sofa

The trends play out beautifully in Marge Carson's striking upholstery introductions. The Skylar sofa, for instance, has a warm look, decked out in a gray menswear boucle accented with a textured silk spiral pattern. Likewise, the asymmetrically styled Adele sofa - a full 100 inches long - is a traditional shape that's been updated with eye-catching transitional fabrics. The chic pillows on the sofa feature "Telford Gate," a pale taupe satin embroidered with a metallic "V" pattern accenting the mushroom-colored link design.

Katya SofaMeanwhile, smaller-scale pieces are no less impressive. "Katya is a much smaller silhouette for us," says Rendino, "with its fine wood frame and half-moon shape." Being shown in a sophisticated neutral palette, it's decked out in "Miami Sand" - a casual linen with just a touch of rayon for sheen - and accented with silk linen pillows in a contemporized medallion pattern. The channel-backed Ariel sofa is more diminutive, too, but has all of the Marge Carson details that customers have come to expect; being shown with pillows in a contemporary gold-embroidered ogee pattern, it's dressy but not-tootraditional at the same time.

But the "Wow!" sofa this market is a wood-frame sectional. The Odessa is being shown in cognac leather, with pillows in tones of spice and cayenne - even an alligator-patterned velvet and pumpkin-colored sheepskin, all highlighting the majestic elephant pattern "Varanasi Pachyderm." Like the entire Marge Carson showroom, it's a treat for the eye at every turn.
