Architectural Forms, Juxtaposed Shapes and Textured Surfaces Give Sleek Contemporary or Warm Transitional Look to Marge Carson's Eclipse Collection

OCTOBER 2018, HIGH POINT, NC – Simple yet dramatic architectural forms are the canvas, and textural finishes ranging from the warm greige Pumice to the stone-like Agate are the brush strokes that enable the new Eclipse Collection to morph from sleek contemporary to casual transitional.

Sweeping and flowing architectural shapes, particularly on some table bases, “have a wonderful juxtaposition in their balance, with the feel of the iconic Sydney Opera House in Australia, one of the 20th Century’s most famous and distinctive buildings,” said Michael Delgaudio, creative director. 

Textural surfaces are prominent, from the highly-textured and sculptural hardware in tones of antique nickel or bronze to hand-woven textured surfaces on some case pieces, over which the finishes are applied. “With the architectural elements, you can combine the marbleized agate and light Malt finish with the cooler nickel hardware to take the collection sleek and modern, or play up the textural elements and warmer finish and hardware for a more casual and transitional feel,” said Jim LaBarge, chief executive officer.

The warmed gray of the primary Pumice finish is “perfectly timed for the transition we are seeing in the marketplace from gray to brown finishes,” Delgaudio said.

Highlights of the Eclipse Collection:

Pieces: 21 pieces, including bedroom, dining room and occasional.

Finishes: Main finish is Pumice, a warm, gray-taupe multi-step finish with beautiful hand-work and graining. Secondary finish is Malt, a neutral, light, soft and warm white with gray rub-through. Accent finish is the dramatic Agate, a multi-colored, marbleized, stone-like finish in tones of black and gray.

Hardware: Highly textural and sculptural and an integral part of the design, shown in antique bronze or nickel.

Lines: Sweeping, dramatic and juxtaposed architectural shapes are used throughout the collection, especially on table bases and tops.
